Presenter: Dee Lande
Have you heard about using names to design overshot patterns but never tried it? Or have you tried to design with names and phrases, but found dealing with a large number of incidentals (Add-in shaft numbers to maintain the necessary odd-oven shaft arrangement.) a bit of a pain. In fact, sometimes so many incidentals have to be added that the name/phrase isn't really the pattern any more. There's an easy way to eliminate that problem! Design name drafts using blocks instead of individual shaft numbers. This presentation will show you how easy this can be, setting up a block code, converting it to a draft, and playing with it a bit to get the look you like. Dee Lande has been a member of JHW for a long time, and has been weaving for about 3 years or so. She mostly has woven scarves, table linens, bands, napkins, and coasters. She particularly loves overshot weaves and that is how she first became interested in designing drafts herself, using names and phrases. She learned to design with blocks instead of just shaft numbers in a MAFA class several years ago.
