MAFA Goodies Make-and-Take

We’ll have materials for making the miniature potholder looms as well as the hair-tie loops, but you may want to make one for yourself ahead of time.

LOOM: You will need: 28 (or 32) push pins and a firm base at least ½ thick, like a garden kneeling pad, blocking mat, corkboard, or lace pillow. If your base isn’t quite thick enough, you may find that you also need a piece of cardboard or two to put under your loom. You can also use a 2-to 4-inch square pin loom.

LOOPS: Get metal-free hair ties about 2" inches in diameter and 2-4 mm thick. If ordering online, read the description carefully. Many hair ties are far too small to use. You will need 14 (or 16) loops per mini potholder.

HOOK: heddle hooks or orifice hooks work; you can also make your own with the wire handles from Chinese take-out boxes
